How the Sealed Design Works

Every Glacce bottle holds a hand-selected crystal obelisk, pointed at both ends, inside a separate glass chamber at the base. Water surrounds the chamber but never contacts the stone. No degradation. No replacing it.

This matters. Loose crystals in drinking water chip over time. Bacteria collect in micro-fractures. Some minerals release trace compounds you don't want to ingest. Sharon Leslie and Julia Schoen spent years dropping raw stones into their drinking glasses before designing the sealed chamber that eliminated those problems.

The materials: borosilicate glass, food-grade stainless steel caps, a food-grade gasket. No adhesive. No plastic. Everything that touches your water is glass or surgical-grade steel. Nothing else.

Why Glass

Borosilicate glass is the same material used in laboratory equipment and high-end cookware. Chemically inert. Leaches nothing into your water. No BPA, no phthalates, no microplastics.

Plastic does. Even BPA-free plastic releases estrogenic chemicals under heat and UV exposure. A 2023 study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found an average of 240,000 nanoplastic particles per liter of bottled water sold in plastic. Glass releases zero.

Water from glass tastes like water. No plastic aftertaste, no metallic edge. Borosilicate is harder and more scratch-resistant than standard soda-lime glass. Ours last years.

Root chakra. Gets its brown-grey colour from natural radiation in the earth. People reach for smoky quartz during transitions: new jobs, breakups, cross-country moves. It anchors.

The Glacce Story

Sharon Leslie and Julia Schoen started Glacce in Los Angeles in 2015. They spent months prototyping with glassblowers before landing on the sealed obelisk design that became the signature. Within a year, Goop and Free People carried Glacce. BuzzFeed, Vice, The Guardian, and Bon Appetit covered it. Adele was spotted with one. Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry followed.

The design philosophy is simple: the bottle should be beautiful enough that you want it on your desk, not buried in a bag. That drove every decision — the crystal shapes, the weight of the glass, the clean silhouette.
